SLIP END VILLAGE HALL COMMITTEE
An interesting meeting was enjoyed by all at our monthly village hall management committee on its date of 10th July 2000. Sue Norman came along from the Bedfordshire Community Council to enlarge to us all as to what our responsibilities were as a committee member, which did perhaps enlighten us all a little (most interesting Sue) and many thanks to you.
It was then discussed amongst ourselves that the stage needed an uplift that would look very welcoming to anybody hiring the hall. and to purchase curtains rich and velvety being an important part of the decor. with colours yet to be chosen possibly by both the ladies and gentlemen as I think the days of the woman's touch alone is a thing of the past. Perhaps the villagers have noticed that the hall has now a lovely secure fence around the boundary making it elegant looking as one passes by, so our many thanks to Mr Gurney one of the local tradesmen.
The car parking will now be marked more clearly and that will allow the driver to space himself to gain plenty of room to get out and back into his vehicle.
We are all still waiting for the baby-changing unit to arrive and installed and I am beginning to wonder if the babies will be potty trained by the time it arrives.
We are also waiting for new chairs to arrive, so ladies, you will then be able to rely on no snagging to your tights. I have not been able to add to the parish news for the last two editions, as our hall meeting for one month did not coincide with the Editors final date and the second month, I was away on a short break. I do enjoy writing about the village hall however brief, because it really is a credit to this village upon which I have previously stated is a dead end.
When one walks into the hall it really is a pleasure to stand and realise what it can be used for: Small meetings, Weddings Concerts, suppers and anything you care to name, can all take place in this historical building. So, if any of the villagers would like to hire it for an occasion please call the letting secretary to arrange the booking. I think that this brief page may be interesting to possibly some of you readers residing in Slip End.

Muriel AlIsop.
