The Old Guestbook!

The Rising Sun of the 1960`s had a slide in the back garden that worked up an awful 6yr olds thirst for Cherryade.
Whereas the Plough in Woodside had chickens at the bottom of their garden kept by a terrifying landlord.

Nice to see such a fine web site and to find out a bit more about the place where someone lives who I know through the audio/video world. If you spot Steve Reed on the street or in a local shop, say hello to him from Rene. He will be surprised.

And congratulations that finally Slip End has internet through broadband.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. Love this website. Truly functional and well updated. I've looked at a few (in readiness to starting work on our own at Claremount Methodist) but they are rarely updated adequately. Some don't have entries more recent than 2003! This surely shows how it should be done. Well done.

Enjoy looking through the site to see what has been happening. BUT I NEED HELP with a surprise project that I am trying to put together for a friends 50th Birthday. Peter Liddle born 030354 Parents Georgina and Jim Attended the village school during the time of MR Ealing ealry 60s Lived in Summer Street until he moved to Luton @19 years of age. Works for Vauxhall Motors Do you know Peter and more importantly do you have any pictures of Peter particularly as a young lad or teenager as he has, for a number of reasons very few to remind himself and also his surviving family of his past. If you do, we will of course return all originals if we were able to take copies or alternatively we will reimburse you for any copies you may make. Please think and have a dig about in those albums. Nice to find such an interesting site. My Grandad and Great Grandmother lived in Front Street and as a boy I was often taken to the Half Moon, The Rising Sun, The Plough by my Dad(Ron)on a Sunday lunch time back in the early 60's. I was hoping to see mention of "the Fuzz" which back in the 30's was apparently a place where kids and adults alike would go for entertainment on a Sunday afternoon. Anybody out there old enough to remember it?

I used to live in Slip End (Summer Street and then Church Road)until about 1961 (age 12)and before that in Pepperstock. I was at the Official Opening of the M1 with other pupils from the Primary School. The place was described as "a point south of Luton" in the newspapers rather than "Slip End" - so its nice to see a web site dedicated to the village (is it still one?). How about some history being shown on it?

Nice to know you're getting council status (from one Councillor to another !) - you seem to have quite a vibrant life in S. Beds. I think the idea of 'sermons-on-line' is novel - provided, of course, that 'Sir' (or 'Ma'am') sends them via e-mail - and you don't have to re-write the things !

I have just stumbled across your web site - I was born in a shop in Slip End in 1947 and moved away when I was 3 yrs old. Somebody may remember the general store run by the Seabrook's at that time? I guess the actual address will be on my birth certificate when I find it.
