ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 - SECTION 14(1)

(B4540 MARKYATE ROAD AND MANCROFT ROAD, SLIP END)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2008
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the County Council of Bedfordshire intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the following lengths of road:
B4540 Markyate Road, Slip End: extends from the county boundary north east to a point approx 150m north east of the junction with Mancroft Road.
Mancoft Road, Slip End: extends for approx 100m from the junction with Markyate Road.
These temporary closures are required to enable resurfacing works to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place for TWO DAYS during the period between Monday 28 July 2008 and Friday 22 August 2008. Closure times are 9.00am to 3.30pm. Specific dates will be advertised on site closer to the time.
The resurfacing will not be taking place across the entrance to Woodside Wild Fowl Park so access will be possible from Caddington.
The alternative routes available for vehicles affected by the proposed Order are:-
B4540 Markyate Road, Slip End: Proceed south west on B4540 and continue to Markyate, turn right onto the A5 and continue to the junction with Dunstable Road, turn right and continue through Caddington onto Luton Road, under the M1 and to the junction with Newlands Road, turn right and continue to the junction with Church Road, turn right and continue through Slip End to site and vice versa.
Mancoft Road, Slip End: Proceed north on Mancroft Road and continue to the junction with Woodside Road, turn right and continue to the junction with Grove Road, turn right and continue to the crossroads, turn right and continue to site and vice versa.
The proposed Order will come into operation on 28 July 2008 for a period of four months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.
