Slip End Playgroup offers Pre-School education and care for children below school age and over 2 years old.
The playgroup is registered with Central Bedfordshire Council and nursery education providers and receives funding for 3 year olds. This means that the children who fulfil this requirement are paid for by the council from the term after their third birthday. After positive feed back from Central Beds Early Years Advisory team we are now pleased to be able to offer funding for some 2 year olds
Slip End Playgroup meet as follows at the Village Hall:
Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays – 9:30am – 12:30pm
Thursday 9:15am – 12:15pm
We have a Lunch Club that runs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays that continues straight after the morning session and ends at 1:30pm. For children that are funded the lunch club is free, the cost to all other children is £3.00.

Unfortunately refunds can not be given for absence due to sickness and holidays. We offer the opportunity to pay your bill weekly if it is preferred.
Our snack each morning usually consists of milk or water to drink and a choice from a variety of different foods. Snack is a provided on a rolling basis but is also a social time as children sit with their friends and adults to eat their food. The snack menu changes each and is displayed on the board
We offer a free flow session which means children choose from a variety of activities including creative and sensory play, construction toys, sand and water, active play, role play and decide whether they want to play indoors or out. Members of staff then join with the children’s play and help to extend their knowledge and understanding. Each Playgroup session is planned to cover all aspects of the early Years Foundation Stage framework.
What to Wear?
Please send your child appropriately dressed for warmth, safety and comfort. It is best if your child wears suitable play clothes, that are easy for them to manage independently. Bring spare clothes in case your child gets wet, and please wash and return any we lend you. Please name coats, hats and bags.
Key Person System
We operate a key person system to enable us to help your child settle quickly and thrive within the group. A staff member is assigned to act as your child’s special helper, and to build up a close relationship with you and your child from the outset. The key person is also responsible for carrying out assessments of your child’s progress and to keep records updated
