I have just seen that I am mentioned as an ex pupil of the school who has done well!!! I thought you may be interested to know that I’m still alive, aged 72 living in Toddington. In addition, I was at one time Leader of Luton Council, Vice Chair of Governors of the University of Luton, (currently an Honorary Fellow) Personnel Manager at Vauxhall among other things. I am currently a Deputy Lieutenant of Bedfordshire. I am very proud to have been a “Slip Ender” and attend the school there when the arrival of Mr Eling as Headmaster opened up opportunities for a good number of us to make progress

The hard copy version of Parish News contains quite a few ads offering local/Luton services, including taxis. At PN we would have no problem having those ads appearing on this site. Maybe PN & Website people could get together soon to see how we could make PN/Website advertising work as quite a few local services might benefit. There used to be a local taxi operator here Val, but these days, my experience suggests taxis are called from Luton.
Maybe readers could recommend a Luton taxi firm or two and 'we' could approach them to advertise here to all round benefit?
Don't rule out the bus services, although they get a bit thin at weekends and nightime.

I live at 31 Summer Street and think that the site is a great resource for the village. I would just suggest that maybe local businesses could be added - I specifically was looking for a taxi service and wonder if one might ever be set up in Slip End.

I was born in 1981 and i use to live at 9 summer street with my parents.(we left in 1986) My grand parents lived on one side of us and my god parents lived on the other side. My dads grandad and his aunts owned the old bakery.I still can remember me and my sister going to get sweets from the sweet shop.Can anyone remember the Chapmans.
