Luton Hoo Walled Garden

The Luton Hoo Estate was important to the village in the past being an employer of many from the village, and Steve Fuell from Slip End is a volunteer there for the restored 4.8 acre walled garden and massive glass house project which hopefully will be a major tourist attraction in years to come if not sooner!

Here is part of a letter from Charlotte Phillips who is project co-ordinator for the project sent February 25, 2011

Dear Steve,

We still have spaces on our Springtime gardening course, so I was wondering if you would be able to pass the information round your Slip End contacts. The text of the email that I have been sending out to my contacts is below:

I was wondering if you know of any gardeners, or even aspiring gardeners, who might be interested in our Springtime gardening course that we are running up at the Walled Garden in March and April. We have got some excellent teachers coming along, including the Head of Propagation from Kew’s Wakehurst Place, and there will be sessions for novice gardeners as well as those with more experience. The sessions have been designed to help people get their garden looking great for the summer and will cover a range of topics including plant identification, dealing with weeds, soil cultivation, propagation, garden design and growing vegetables. I have attached a course outline and a booking form, so if you know of anyone who might be interested, we would be delighted to hear from them.

All the best,

Charlotte
