Village Day 2010
After the tremendous success of Village Day 2009, Sarah spent the last 9 months planning Village Day 2010, which went off with great success on Saturday 31st July 2010.
'After 9 months of planning, the 31st of July was upon us, albeit that at 5.30am on the morning in question it was raining quite heavily. Arriving at the field at 6.45am, we were swfitly joined by Martin Allen, who brought the Harpenden Scout Group Marquees with him, and my thanks goes out to my friends Jane & Hugo who appeared at the same time to help with putting them up. The rain became drizzle but it still didnt let up.
At 8.30am the first of the craft stall holders started arriving, and how brave they were, putting their gazebo's up in the rain! Slowly over the next couple of hours the other attractions started to arrive and set up and by 11am we were ready to go! Hilda & May very kindly officially opened the day for us for the 3rd year running and after the formalties they both enjoyed a large Pimms. Ladies, thank you, I hope you like the photograph. The weather was kind to us in the end, and a great day was had by all. I have individually thanked those involved with the day, it would be impossible to carry off without their help in one way or another and in particular I would like to thank my wonderful partner Rob - without his unending support from start to finish I think I would of given up before I'd even started!
The day itself made just over £2,500 after expenditure and as usual this money will go back into the groups within the community. Thank You'
