Little Stars

This is the name for the youngest members of St Andrew’s Church. Pre-school children and babies together with their parents, grandparents, aunties, friends, carers, etc. are welcome to join us.

We meet on Wednesday mornings in term time and welcome people from 10 a.m. with a hot drink and a biscuit. This gives time for grown-ups to chat and for little ones to explore that toys in our crèche area or perhaps do some colouring.

At 10.30 a.m., when we feel most people may have arrived, we start our session by singing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star”. However, as we are a very informal group, people can join us whenever their children’s needs permit.

Each session includes a Bible based story time and a linked activity, which is usually a ‘make’/craft of some sort, bearing in mind that process is more important than product!

Singing is an important part of Little Stars, with much merriment as many of the songs have actions and we try to sign the songs whenever we can.

We have birthday candle time and round off the session with a couple of simple prayers, which we say together. The children enjoy the loud Amen after the children’s prayer and the whispered Amen after the parent’s prayer.

From time to time we are joined by Slip End Preschool from 10 until 11, which just adds to the fun.
